SS: N/Mo or N/Me?
I've decided to make a character for UW. Unfortunately, I'm very, very confused right now. And the search button doesn't work ATM, SO I've come here. If I'm making an SS, I've heard -
N/Me - is faster
N/Mo - better energy management (Essence bond on 55)
WHICH ONE? My brain hurts lol
Thanks in advance.

n/me for 2 main reasons: sympathetic visage is vital, and echo makes things go much fastr. either way, you dont run out too often anyway

Also, while the search button IS STILL down for me, I'd like to ask for a BASIC SS build. I've never done it before, and it might look appealing to me. I don't really know how to go about this, so yeah.
BTW, thanks for the crazy fast answer!

Don't go N/Mo like the others said... if u wanna duo UW u just have 2 make sure that u kill all who attack the 55hp as fast as possible.
Only mesmers skills that I take with me in UW are: Mantra of Resolve and Symp. visage (arcane echo)

Advanced Echoe SS/Tank SF 4 man
Spiteful spirit--------------16 Curse
Arcane Echoe--------------8 Illusion
Awaken The Blood ---------1 Inspiration
Ether Feast(or Sv)---------3 Blood
Distortion------------------11 Soul Reaping
Mantera of Concentration
Spinal Shivers
Illusions of Weakness
Make sure bonder brings Balths spirit, Life attunement
To begin each combat while running in or b4 a aggrovation get Prepared.
Activate mantra, wait for max energy, awaken blood wait for near max, arcan echoe wat for near max, than cast ss 4 times, dont run in just to tank bunching, atleast not before you cast ss twice/melee interupts,Dwarven Battle stance should be watched. Be ready mid spell if stance* drops cast it again, and use distortion if you are charging manta still, distortion blocks archer warrior interupts atacks75%, wethwer or not they are interupt atk skill
Ive cleared sf everyday for 6 months this is working best for me, I finally came upon illusions of weakness, it triggers when needed, adds more for dwaynas kiss, and life attunment(cast it after all bonds as a enchantment remova,l blocker that gains 228 health) With blood so low you get first 2 ss's off after charging energy in the above preperation before battle, (AB)makes shivers cost 4 instead of 5 as well. of in this sequence of recharging energy as you prepare enchants. monk should mend or watchful spirit self, bond dmg's
*3* MAN SF, 1 monk brings: blessed signet,\dwaynas kiss, bond, barrier, life attunment, balths spirit, mending, watchful spirit(casted last), healing prayers up until mending is for 4,15 in pro and 14 in df 3 sup ruins, 1 sup vigor 305 hp,wont matter when you reach gear.
3'rd member 1 mm n/m are usualy experienced, n/m brings dwaynas kiss, or healing seed along or both thats a perfect team cause monk cant self heal on way in and ive taught newbs this and cleared it first try often, as SS tank, teach the monk learn this build and you make tons of cash and exp real fast.

The 55-monk in the original post implies that this is a UW smite run SS/SV necro, since 55's get slaughtered in SF. Seasoned Necro/Mesmers can consistently kill 3-15 smites in under 16 seconds flat (assuming the monk can tank them all). Good luck getting anything close with a Necro/Monk.

The build I usually run down there is what everyone else has said, but I'll say it again just for the heck of it
1- Awaken the Blood
2- Arcane Echo
3- Spiteful Spirit
4- Suffering (cover hex on smites; yes, semi-long cast and expensive but it covers all)
5- Sympathetic Visages
6- Power Spike
7- Blood Ritual if with noob/pug and Leech Signet otherwise
8- Resurrection Signet

Good luck even getting a Mo/W to team with you if you go N/Mo. The energy management should be NO problem with 9 or 10 soul reaping. AS N/Me I run this build:
Awaken the Blood
Arcane Echo
SS
Desecrate Enchat
Sympathetic Visage
Shivers (unused, left over from SF farm)
Blood Ritual
Res Sig
For the Aataxe and Grasping Darkness, time ATB and AE so that your energy is regening while the monk runs into the aggro, you will have plenty of time to get your SS off before they wear out. As you are hitting the first two SS casts, the monk should of killed the Dying Nightmare, so there is the energy needed for SS #3. You really shouldn't need to do much else other than pick up drops. For the Smite Crawlers, Arcane Echo, SV as soon as ALL the smites are hitting the monk, count to 5 or 6 slowly, hit SS, SV (echoed version) the monk again, and maybe another SS or Desecrate Enchant. The timing of spells will be enough that when you cast SS, the Smites have no energy left ot get Smite Hex off.
My attributes look something like this:
16 Curses
8 Blood
8 Illusion (14 sec SV)
9 or 10 Soul Reap, not sure.
For armor, I use scars for the energy bonus. I also use Vilnar's Claw/Glove. The +1 curses seems to hit quite often on SS.
Edit: Changed Bortak to Vilnar. My brain wasn't working.

I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but alot of those skils are absoulutly uneccesary.
And I understand why alot of necro's take Awaken the blood, but that too is really uneccisary.
Here is my build;
--Arcane Echo
--Spriteful Sprit
--Desecrate Enchantments(not a necesity, however useful, and fills the slot nicely.)
--Sympethetic Visage
--Suffering
--Power Spike(As well not a necesity, but very handy for emergencies, such as when a nightmere pops up and the 55 monk fails to respoind/no energy/SB is recharging)
--Rez Sig
--Blood Ritual(Least useful of everything in here, however it comes in handy.)
--9 Illusion
--9 Domination
--4 Soul Reaping (Energy management is not very much needed, if things are done in the right order, you should have plenty.)
--2 Blood (Hey, makes blood ritual last that much longer!)
--16 Curses
There really is no need for anything in this build to be defensive for your not supposed to be getting hit, your monk is, and thats all there really would come useful with a monk secondary.

AtB is necessary for optimum echo-SS speed kills. 41-43 dmg (L18-19 SS) kills a lot faster than 37 dmg (L16 SS). The faster the necro/mesmer drops targets, the more runs can be executed in the same time frame. The limitation is still arcane echo's recharge rate, but that's a discussion for another thread.

Check out Cerb's SS/SV thread... I posted updates in there about how to remove the need for any cover-hexes while still posting sub-16 second kills almost non-stop. Suffering is no longer required either, thereby freeing up another skill slot.

I don't see why you can't consider both. Just grab mesmer as your secondary then complete the monk secondary quest in Crystal Desert. Then bam, you can play either one whenever you want.
But yeah, mesmer secondary for echo.
